What We Do

Wild Roots Design LLC is a garden and floral design service that works with nature rather than against. Specializing in native plants and habitat restoration, we help homeowners use their yard space in an ecologically purposeful way. With 40 million acres of lawn across the U.S.—a monoculture that provides no benefit for pollinators, wildlife, or soil health—it's time to rethink how we use our private land. We create ecological corridors using fine gardening techniques. We also provide floral arrangements for special events, sourcing only from local farmers who use sustainable farming practices.

Led by Margit Burgess, a Mystic, CT native and an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional with a master's in Biological and Environmental Sciences (University of Rhode Island), Wild Roots Design brings expertise, passion, and science-backed solutions to every project. Whether you're looking to reduce your lawn space, replace invasive species with natives, establish a pollinator or rain garden, maintain your meadow, or enhance your landscape's ecological function, we are here to help you design a space that works for both you and the planet.
